The sparkhouse video team at Augsburg Fortress is seeking two Animation Interns to assist with animation needs during Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production. This paid position will join the video team for 12 action-packed weeks of hands-on experience and learning opportunities. The Animation Interns will work closely with many members of the sparkhouse video department, including the Animation Manager and Lead Animators.

As the Animation Intern, you will be responsible for performing animation creation and revisions as needed during Production, Post-Production, and Mastering. This will require you to stay up-to-date on the latest animation software and computer platforms, and will necessitate researching ways to streamline the animation process. You will have a high involvement working with sparkhouse video storyboards and/or previz development.

These individuals will work with the Animation Manager, Director, and Producer to maintain visual style and technique, including characterization, timing, environment, treatment, and approach, to ensure consistency and efficacy in execution and deliverables. The Animation Interns will also serve these individuals by providing dailies for review, and will attend dailies meetings when deemed necessary
Length of Internship: 12 Weeks - Summer, 2016
Requirements: • 1-3 years of experience in 2D and 3D character animation
• 1-2 years of experience compositing, including knowledge of color-correcting
• 1-3 years of illustration experience (a plus, not a requirement)
• The ability to tell stories visually
• Proven knowledge of character rigging
• Demonstrable narrative skills, focusing on the character performance and visual storytelling which ultimately realize the script
• Demonstrable proficiency with Adobe CS5 and higher, including After Effects, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, as well as other 2D and 3D animation packages
• A working knowledge of video editing (a plus, not a requirement)
• Proven knowledge of video formats, codecs, render farms, and digital capture tools
• The ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and work with team members, budgets, timelines, etc.
• Prior knowledge of ELCA and Lutheran heritage, organizational structures, and mission (helpful)
• A familiarity with other mainline Christian organizations (helpful)
Location: The Augsburg Fortress paid internship program is robust, and includes flexible scheduling, time off, and no-cost gym access in the 510 Marquette fitness center! The beautiful, corporate, newly re-designed headquarters hosts 120 employees and is located in downtown Minneapolis with adjacent access to light Rail and MetroTransit bus lines, as well as skyway access to restaurants, banks, and shopping centers.
