|Description:||Melville House Publishing is seeking a Design and Production Intern for Spring of 2017. This intern will work closely with our Managing Editor and Art Director, assisting in the development and production of our diverse catalog. Typical duties will include proofreading manuscripts, preparing Word documents for typesetting, photo research, setting of interior layouts in Adobe InDesign, creating master pages and style sheets, setting mechanicals. This is an exceptional opportunity to observe the inner workings of a small, independent publishing house, and to learn about book publishing while working with our incredible art and production staff. Melville House is a casual office with an open floor plan, and interns are encouraged to sit in on all staff meetings.|
|Length of Internship:||Interns are expected to commit to 20 hours a week for the full term of the internship. The Spring 2017 program begins with an orientation in early January, and runs until May 24th. Applicants should include in their cover letter all scheduling requirements and/or preferences.|
|Requirements:||The internship is open to rising seniors and recent graduates, and requires an individual who is responsible, professional, versatile, and game. Some professional or educational experience with Adobe InDesign is required. Photoshop and WordStyle experience is appreciated.
