Company Name: DUNHAM LITERARY, INC.
Description: Dunham Literary, Inc. seeks an intern to assist in the daily activities of running a business as well as special projects.

Our clients include adult and children’s books, including several illustrators, so an interest in and knowledge of both is necessary. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn about the business of book publishing and is interested in pursuing a career in the industry. This position is best suited for someone with little publishing experience, but prior office experience is appreciated.

Possible daily tasks will include:

1. Reading and evaluating query letters sent by authors seeking representation. Recommending which projects should be requested.
2. Drafting letters to potential and existing clients.
3. Reading solicited manuscripts and preparing detailed reports including suggestions for revisions.
4. Researching the status of backlist titles to determine whether or not they are in print. Drafting letters requesting a reversion of rights. Interfacing with publishers to follow up those requests.
5. Photocopying, phones, filing, mail, and other office tasks.
Length of Internship: September through December 2014
Requirements: Applicants must be:
-Current college students or recent graduates
-Detail-oriented
-Exceptional writers and communicators
-Able to work independently and take initiative
-Available to work in our New York office approximately 10-20 hours per week during the fall semester
