Description: We are a full-service literary agency based in Manhattan seeking an intern for the spring semester. We represent works in a wide range of categories with an emphasis on literary fiction, outstanding thriller and crime fiction, serious narrative non-fiction, and middle-grade and young adult fiction. Our authors include Audrey Niffenegger, author of THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE; Gregory David Roberts, author of SHANTARAM; Daniel Wallace, author of BIG FISH; Josh Bazell, author of BEAT THE REAPER; Carl Hoffman, author of SAVAGE HARVEST: A TALE OF CANNIBALS, COLONIALISM, AND MICHAEL ROCKEFELLER’S TRAGIC QUEST FOR PRIMITIVE ART; Daphne Merkin, author of THE FAME LUNCHES; and Jonathan Auxier, author of PETER NIMBLE AND HIS FANTASTIC EYES. We are seeking rising juniors and seniors available for one or two days a week from January through May. Interns will be trained to evaluate query letters, review and offer editorial feedback on manuscripts and nonfiction proposals, manage databases, coordinate marketing and publicity efforts, provide basic administrative support, and become familiar with contracts and royalty statements. Our internships are unpaid, but we are happy to work with students to ensure that they receive credit from their schools. Ideal interns will be independent and detail-oriented workers who are proficient with Microsoft Office programs, adept at researching and writing, able to give articulate editorial feedback, and passionate about books and getting an educational introduction to publishing. We have a casual office environment and are flexible about scheduling.
