|Company Name:||THE POINT|
|Description:||The Point Magazine offers an editorial internship to current college students on a rolling basis. Interns work part-time in the magazine’s office in downtown Chicago for three to six months. Our interns are active and essential participants in our editorial process; they attend our staff meetings, assist with editorial management and layout for our print issues, copyedit and fact-check articles, and vet submissions. Interns also receive hands-on experience in the administrative and business sides of publishing and, under the direction of the managing editor, will spearhead projects in those areas. There is ample opportunity to contribute to the magazine and we encourage our interns to pitch and write articles for our website.
As members of our staff, interns are encouraged to read widely and well, think critically, and make novel observations about real problems. The internship is unpaid but we are committed to providing a rewarding experience that will prepare students for future careers in writing, publishing, and academia. Our ambition as a magazine—and for our internship—is to teach people how to think, not what to think.
