Description: SAGE Publications, a leading academic and professional publisher of books, journals, and electronic media, located in Thousand Oaks, California, with offices in London, India, Singapore, and Washington DC, is currently seeking a SAGE Open Intern.

This position provides administrative support for the Social Science Journals Editorial Department specifically assisting in online research for SAGE Open and by assisting with various editorial projects. The main goals of this position are as follows:
• Provide support to SAGE staff working on SAGE Open
• Various editorial projects, as assigned

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
SAGE Open:
• Conduct online research to identify appropriate article editors for individual manuscripts.
• Assist SAGE staff working in the SAGE Open SAGE Track site, as needed

Editorial Projects:
• Provide backup support to SAGE staff, as needed.
• Assist on various editorial projects, as directed.
• Help with printing, shipping, filing or other administrative tasks as needed.
• Assist in hosting office visitors, as requested.
• Carry out multiple support tasks as directed.
• Perform daily work with moderate supervision.
• Represent and act as ambassador for SAGE externally, by phone, and e-mail as well as in person.

The additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Work with academic/professional editors and internal staff (including Editorial Assistants, Production, Marketing and Sales, Art/Design, Information Technology and Contracts) to support the journals program and acquisitions activity.
• Other duties as assigned.

Length of Internship: up to 1 year
Requirements: Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:
• Bachelor’s degree, or progress toward a Bachelor’s degree, is preferred
• Excellent English verbal and written business communication skills
• Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; familiarity with contact management software desirable
• Organization skills and attention to detail
• Ability to follow directions, learn, and understand departmental procedures
• Can work up to 25 - 40 hours a week, flexible with students schedule
